xDSL Visited Again

Kind Readers,

Well, there is a new twist, or three! The adsl.org URL no longer exists. Sorry if some of you thought me crazy, but it did exist a few months ago. Now it is two others.

for ADSL Network and

ADSL Consortium

Life sure takes some twists, don't it!

The last twist is that HDSL2 has a new name; S-HSDL which is Single-line High data rate Digital Subscriber Line. That is a single pair copper line; normal phone service is the translation. All the telcos are skittish about the crosstalk of ADSL..

Only US West offers HDSL in metropolitan areas at this time; though others have as T1 and E1. Truth in advertising and sales???

No one has S-HDSL, yet; but the vendors of the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) chips are seemingly enamored with the technology and its marketability. Things do appear to look bright at the end of the tunnel!

Peace,
Clarke
